A Confession, A Solution, and a Winner

Confession: my prayer life is sporadic at best. If someone asks me to pray about something, if I don't do it right.that.second, I'm going to completely forget about it. Pretty much a guarantee.

Pray without ceasing? Right. I often barely remember to pray at all.
I am SO not disciplined in this area.

Enter MyPrayPal. Just like #shereadstruth has been one way I've repurposed my ipad (useful tool rather than a constant distraction), MyPrayerPal has been one way to do the same with my iphone. More importantly, it is a tool that I have used to develop a consistent prayer life. To start practicing that discipline that is so vital to my life as a believer and my relationship with Jesus.

The app is not the most aesthetically pleasing...it's super simple. But it's free and it's helpful. I can set reminders for individual things that I want to pray about and even mark something as "answered" when the Lord comes through (He always does).

My list is growing, steadily...family health issues, protection and guidance for a friend, finances, life decisions for Mr. F and I, etc. but my time in prayer is growing right along with it. And I'm being consistent. When I say I'm going to pray for something/someone, I know I will. And the longer I use it, the more mindful I am of the things I need to be praying for on my own. Without a handy-dandy reminder. Maybe one day this discipline will be settled in and a cozy part of my life rather than something I have to be reminded of.
Until then, I'm so thankful for this app!

  1. A wonderful APP! I used think of prayer as a "duty", a task I must get to, when the time suited me.....this bothered me.........until I made myself realize that whether I prayed of not, Jesus was with me throughout the day.........waiting silently for me to talk to Him. Now, I "talk to God" throughout the whole day...........it really has helped me to cover all of those important things to pray about. So enjoyed this post!

    1. Thanks for sharing! I just need to take time and pause. I get so busy and just keep going and going and going and then I'm in bed....exhausted. When I take the time, it flows....and I am working on just letting to flow during the business. The app helps me get back on track when my "busy mode" kicks in.
